Homemade beauty tips for whitening of the skin look easy to accomplish. But for effective lighter skin tone and healthier skin quality, these remedies need to be followed regularly, preferably as part of the daily skin care regime.
Application Remedies
Combine 1 tsp. each of milk powder, lime juice and honey with one-half tsp. of almond oil. Keep this mask on your face for about 15 minutes and then wash away for tan removal and addition of shine. You could combine oatmeal, curd and tomato juice, keep the mixture on the face for 20 minutes and wash off with cold water. This also helps removal of pigmentation and lightening of skin. Raw potato is known to remove marks and blemishes while a mixture of dried powdered orange peel and curd provides the same effect too. Remember to wash off with cold water in quarter of an hour. Turmeric and lime juice mixture or grated tomato and lime juice mixture left on the face for 20 minutes at a time, twice a day will provide actual skin lightening effect within two to three weeks. You could also soak four almonds in water overnight. In the morning grind this in to a paste with milk and keep this mask on the face and neck through the night. Wash off with cold water in the morning. A daily routine of this for a fortnight will show results after which the frequency can be brought down to two times a week. A tablespoon of gram flower mixed with 2 tbsp. of raw milk and a few drops of lemon juice is known to help in promoting fairer skin. This face pack needs to be kept on for quarter of an hour, daily for four weeks. After that, it will be enough to do this only one time every week. You could also keep a paste of fresh ground mint leaves on your face every day for 20 minutes for skin lightening effects. Another well known mask for fair skin involves combining half a banana with a spoonfull of honey and two spoonfuls of sour cream. This needs to be kept on for a little less than half an hour. Use a soft moist cloth to clean your face afterward. For oily skin, a sandalwood powder and oatmeal mix applied as a mask seems to bring about effective desired results.
Diet Tips
While there is actually no particular magic food that will give you fair skin overnight, a balanced diet helps the process by bringing to the skin a glow that makes it looks cleaner. Hydrate your skin and keep it free from blemishes by drinking at least six to eight glasses of water every day. Stay away from oily fatty foods and have lots of roughage for bowel clearance as this directly affects the condition of the skin.
General Measures
Always apply a sunscreen when going out of home. Tone your skin, if possible with a homemade toner of cucumber juice. Whenever you are massaging your skin with a pack, use a circular motion that goes from the chin upwards. This keeps the skin younger and prevents it from sagging. Never be harsh on your skin while scrubbing or washing.
